By Light has an opening for a Sr. Systems Administrator (Linux/Unix) position supporting the Army National Guard (ARNG) in Falls Church, VA. This is an IT Service Management contract in support of the operation, modernization, expansion, and further evolution of the ARNG's global Information Technology (IT) services including networking, compute, storage, infrastructure, applications, hosting, and program management services. The GECOS program supports the ARNG enterprise IT infrastructure, its Wide Area Network (WAN), authentication and directory services, cybersecurity, application hosting, and associated services. GECOS uses ITIL best practices framework as the basis for IT Service Management (ITSM) model.Responsibilities
Provides support for Linux/Unix systems administration, deployment, virtualization, maintenance, and compliance.Manages and monitors all installed Information Technology (IT) Systems and infrastructure.Installs, configures, tests, and performs routine maintenance on operating systems, application software and system management tools to ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.Performs administrative operation and maintenance functions of server hardware and software.Maintains system security and executes common practices and procedures.Monitors usage statistics and logs.Maintains baseline configurations and performs modification of configuration settings.Institutes troubleshooting and incident response procedures.Troubleshoots system related problems.Remains current in operating systems/software analysis and technological developments and applications.Recommends future direction or projects to management.Provides expertise and direction in the development or modification of software programs and applications to enhance an operating system.Develops and maintains documentation on new and existing systems.Perform server maintenance and software upgrades supporting scanning tools.Create and maintain standard tool maintenance design documentation and test plans for new and existing applications and hardware to avoid obsolescence and improve productivity for the user community and Government leadership.Required Experience/Qualifications
BA/BS in Information Technology related field, or equivalent years of combined experience and training.8+ years relevant experience.Well versed with Linux/Unix server operating systems, as well as common virtualization technologies, preferably VMware (vSphere, vCenter).Experience managing and patching Linux/Unix systems.Possess the appropriate computing environment certifications to achieve DoD 8570.01-M Information.Possess the appropriate baseline certifications to achieve DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II.Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) OR obtain Certification within 6 months of hire.Preferred Experience/Qualifications
Linux/Unix systems administration.OCA/OCP Solaris Administrator Certification.Possess an ITIL v3 or ITIL 4 Foundation or a higher certification in either category.Special Requirements/Security Clearance
Active SECRET DoD clearance or higher.
