Job DescriptionTerracon is seeking a skilled OpenRoads Designer / Project Engineer specializing in transportation projects to join our Geotechnical Design and Instrumentation (GDI) team in Cincinnati, OH; Washington DC Metro Area; or Manchester, NH. Remote/hybrid environment will be considered for the right applicant. Part time schedule open for consideration.The individual will be responsible for utilizing Bentley's OpenRoads software to develop innovative and efficient designs for transportation infrastructure projects, including installation of underground utilities using trenchless technology methods and contributing to the successful completion of projects within quality standards, budget constraints, and schedules. OpenRoads Designer is a roadway design software that provides a comprehensive modeling environment to support design highway designs from concept through construction.Responsibilities

Utilize Bentley's OpenRoads software to develop 3D models, alignments, profiles, corridors, and cross-sections for transportation projects.Modify the OpenRoads workspace per project needs, including the development and or modification of workspace configuration files, and dgnlib files, and SUDA components.Mentor and train and provide guidance to other staff engineers in the use of Open Roads.Collaborate with engineers, architects, and project managers to integrate design components into overall project plans.Prepare detailed drawings, plans, and specifications for roadway, highway, and transit projects.Conduct design reviews, constructability assessments, and quality control checks to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.Assist in the preparation of project reports, presentations, and client communications.Stay updated with industry trends, software advancements, and best practices related to OpenRoads design.Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related field.Professional Engineer (PE) license in Ohio or ability to get it within 6 months.Having Ohio DOT experience is a plus.Proficiency in Bentley's OpenRoads software and related tools (OpenRoads Designer, OpenRoads ConceptStation, etc.).Minimum of 8 years of experience in transportation engineering with a focus on roadway design, underground infrastructure alignment optimization, and geometric design.Familiarity with relevant design standards and guidelines (AASHTO, FHWA, state DOTs).Strong technical skills in OpenRoads Designer/MicroStation, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office Suite.Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.About TerraconTerracon is a 100 percent employee-owned multidiscipline consulting firm comprised of more than 6,000 curious minds focused on solving engineering and technical challenges from more than 175 locations nationwide.
