SummaryThe Freight Brokerage Backoffice Accounting Senior Manager will be responsible for leading and managing all back-office accounting processes within the freight brokerage division, including customer management, carrier inquiries, accounts payable and accounts receivable. This position focuses on ensuring the accuracy and integrity of transactional records and the efficient handling of Brokerage-specific Backoffice processes.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee daily transactional accounting activities specific to freight brokerage, ensuring compliance with applicable policies.Oversee customer billing ensuring accuracy with customer specific billing requirements.Oversee the accounts receivable process, including tracking outstanding invoices, collections, and aging reports.Manage accounts payable, ensuring timely and accurate payment to carriers and vendors. This includes managing changes to carrier remittance information and responding to carrier communication on payment status and other inquiries in a timely manner.Collaborate with legal and credit to ensure customers are set up with the correct payment terms and credit limit.Collaborate with the collections and brokerage operations team to resolve billing disputes and improve the accuracy of invoices.Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting specific to accounting transactions.Lead, mentor, and develop a team of back-office personnel, establishing performance objectives and providing feedback.Conduct training sessions to enhance the team’s knowledge of accounting best practices and compliance requirements.Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement within the accounting team.Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes related to freight brokerage operations.Utilize accounting software and other tools to streamline workflows and improve data accuracy.Collaborate with internal teams to align accounting practices with operational needs, ensuring seamless integration and support.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.10+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role, ideally within the logistics, transportation, or freight brokerage industry.Strong knowledge of revenue recognition, and accounting practices applicable to freight brokerage.Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills.Familiarity with freight brokerage software and an understanding of brokerage operations. Experience with Turvo is highly desirable.Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.Excellent communication skills and team leadership abilities.Working ConditionsFull-time, hybrid/remote.Travel will be required for training or coordination with operations.Job Category:
