Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively seeking an engineer with structural engineering focus and commercial diving certification to perform both structural design and inspections. The successful new hire will join our Walnut Creek or Oakland, CA office.As the successful Diver, you will be working with a team of experienced professional engineer-divers that provides consulting services to clients throughout California.

Occasional travel to other areas throughout the U.S. (including Hawaii) and abroad will also be required. The principal function of this position is to be part of a team that evaluates marine structures and ports through above and underwater engineering inspections; follow-on report preparation; load-rating analyses; remaining service life analyses; and development of structural repair, rehabilitation, or replacement designs. Design tasks will include conceptual development; operational considerations; structural analysis; and preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates. You will utilize modern workflows that include field tablets, UAS (drones), nondestructive testing and evaluation, marine mapping and imaging, analysis and modeling tools. Performs site investigations of marine structures, bridges, and other infrastructure assetsEnsures that the scope of work is fulfilled as directed and that the contracted deliverable is submitted out on schedule and as budgetedWorks collaboratively with all members of the inspection team and of other engineering disciplinesAnalyzes deficient components of marine structures to assess load capacityPrepares plans, specifications, cost estimates and supporting documentationAssists with civil and structural designPerforms other duties as requiredQualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited universityMaster's degree in Structural Engineering preferredEngineer-in-Training (EIT) strongly preferred and required within 6 months of commencing employmentCertified Commercial Diver - ADCI, HSE, DCBC, IMCA or ADAS requiredNHI/NBIS bridge inspection qualifications a plusEntry to 4 years of related diving and inspection experience; design experience strongly preferredPossess a valid driver's license in good standingAbility and willingness to travel as required. Most work is regional; however, travel can be up to 1 to 2 weeks in duration if neededBoater Safety Card preferredPossess DBIDS card or eligibility to successfully pass background check to secure Department of Defense DBIDS card and other badges required by clientsPossession of or ability to obtain within a couple months of hire a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)Current First Aid, CPR, AED, and Oxygen Administration certification preferredSelected candidate must consent to and a pass a post-off/pre-employment drug screeningAll new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171Moffatt & Nichol uses E-Verify and employment is contingent upon the legal ability to obtain employment in the U.S. and to present the required documentation at hireBase Salary Range:

$37.00 to $53.00 per hour based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting required qualification in job description.
