Job Description

The Functional Modeling Engineer is responsible for elaborating system and equipment models to be used for several aspects during the Electric Engine development, such as integration with airframe, failure propagation and safety analysis, transient analysis, model-based design, software development, and control law definitions/adjustments. For this position, the candidate will work in a collaborative cross-functional environment for the development of an Electric Engine.

The individual is responsible for:

The elaboration of high-fidelity models using Matlab Simulink.

Developing the models' structures considering the models requirements and equipment/system architecture.

Refining motor control laws providing adequate adjustments when necessary.

Daily interface with the Motor Control Software Engineer to jointly determine the main aspects for the motor control.

Interface with the Systems Engineers and Equipment Engineers to capture the requirements and system architecture that must be implemented in the models.

Interface with the customer to present and align the features to be incorporated in the integration models.

Use of model-based design development.

Maintaining the models updated with robust version control.

Use of requirement management tools.

Developing models according to DO178 model-based design.

Developing models to be used in the test benches for hardware-in-the-loop tests.

Additional Job Details

Technical Attributes and Experience

Experience in New Product Development and Phase-Gate processes.

Experience in modeling electric motor control.

Experience in design for motor control and high-voltage equipment.

Experience in requirements management and V&V process.

High skills in Matlab Simulink and Simscape.

Willingness to work with, and travel to, domestic and international design and manufacturing locations when necessary.

PREFERRED:

Experience in integration of electronic hardware and motor control.

Experience in ARP4754A process.

Minimum Requirements (proficiency levels aligned to job level)

Bachelor's or Master's or Ph.D. degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related field.

7 years of experience in motor control/modeling.
