Broadwind Clean Fuels is searching for a Controls/Instrumentation/Process (CIP) Engineer to join our team in Abilene, TX. The CIP Engineer is a member of a collaborative Product Development Team dedicated to developing innovative equipment solutions supporting the energy transition. In this role, the CIP Engineer will apply a strong oil and gas process aptitude with controls and instrumentation to deliver innovative, reliable, safe solutions. This role involves hands-on involvement from initial conceptual design and costing through product shipment and field support.
Work assignments will include both smaller individual projects, as well as being a team member of larger projects, under the guidance of the Director of Engineering. The CIP Engineer should be able to evaluate, select, specify, and engineer certain compressed gas, control systems, and electrical equipment or products. A variety of tasks including calculations, design, and field work will be essential in fulfilling this role.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The CIP Engineer will perform various tasks related to the design and development of automated gas processing equipment.
Support product definition and specification preparations including feasibility and basic risk assessment,
value analysis, and basic cost estimating.Support market research and competitive analysis and prepare supporting documentation for Product Development Gate Reviews.Assist with developing and managing the project scope, budget, resource requirements, and schedule.Perform design calculations using company standard software, and proprietary manufacturer software.Calculate sizing for Control valves, Pressure Safety valves, Relief valves and flow meters.Apply familiarity/knowledge of relevant regulations and codes applicable to automated gas processing equipment.Instrumentation studies to select pressure, flow, current, temperature, and other analytical elements/transmitters.Create instrumentation PLC I/O ListSpecify Programmable Logic Controllers and/or Distributed Computer Control Systems hardware.Collaborates in and/or author control logic and PLC programs to integrate sensors, transducers, actuators, and SCADA.Interpret technical specifications and assist in clearly communicating requirements to manufacturing floor through drawings or work instructions.Contribute to the creation of product manufacturing process definition and documentation as needed.Participate in Hazard and Operability Analysis and Process Hazard Analysis evaluations, PFMEA, and various other risk assessments to assure product safety.Assist packaging design personnel with: Instrument Location, PLC Panel layouts, Instrumentation and controls conduit and cable schedules, Electrical area classification drawings, Wiring Schematics (VFD's, instruments, signal conditioners, MCR/ESD, etc.)Support multiple projects simultaneously.Academic/Experience/Credentials/Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering required.Minimum of 5 - 10 years of experience.Hands-on experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment.Hands-on field experience troubleshooting equipment issues and training operators.Familiarity with welding processes including Sub arc, MIG, and TIGMust possess a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.Familiarity with industry standards/codes such as ASME, AISC, API, NFPA, IEEE, etc.
Specialized Skills/Knowledge/Ability:
Skilled at creating and interpreting P&ID and electrical diagrams.Basic navigation and design skills running Solid Works 3D CAD software.Competency creating and applying an "Indented BOM structure."Competency creating cost estimates for prototype designs and tracking build costs.Proficiency in MS word, PowerPoint, and Excel.Robust analytical skills with exceptional reasoning abilities; ability to make sound, objective decisions derived from a variety of information.Ability to work on multiple projects successfully while maintaining deadlines.Support field process evaluations
