Member Services Assistant

to join our team. This is an exceptional opportunity to join an organization that values teamwork, collaboration, and inclusion and where you will be surrounded by a diverse, talented, and enthusiastic group of colleagues.Reporting to the Director of Membership, the Member Services Assistant serves as the membership lead at the museum's admissions desk, providing a wide variety of sales, customer service, and event support to the museum’s Development/Membership and Guest Experience departments. They ensure that all members and guests receive superior customer service and embrace a guest-first, concierge approach, going above and beyond to make members and guests feel special and valued. As an Asian Art Museum ambassador, the Member Services Assistant is attentive, eager to help, and knowledgeable about the museum and the membership program.Primary responsibilities include:Selling memberships and renewing members.Providing membership information to members and potential members, resolving members’ issues with a sense of urgency and diplomacy.Prioritizing member express check-in.Selling admissions tickets and welcoming visitors, including group visitors and school groups, to the museum and assisting them with their visit.Assisting with audio tour distribution and coat check.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSServes as a museum ambassador, providing excellent customer service to all guests, including members, donors, tourists, locals, families, students, school groups and people with diverse accessibility needs.Sells memberships to renewing members and new prospects, proactively converting visitors to members and upgrading sales.Sells admissions tickets to visitors including receiving payment and processing the sales using ticketing software systems.Adds donations to purchases, using each interaction as an opportunity to further deepen the guest’s commitment to the museum.Manually enters customer data into the ticketing and membership sales system, capturing information accurately and thoroughly without mistakes or omissions.Follows cash handling procedures to ensure accurate and timely processing of payments; sets up money trays by obtaining sufficient amounts of different denominations of dollars and coins in order to make change for museum patrons.Prepares deposits by summarizing all receipts on a daily basis and preparing forms such as cash reconciliation sheet and deposit slip in order to bank monies at the end of a shift.Maintains ticket inventory stock by tracking and maintaining appropriate levels of inventory. Maintains automated systems by ensuring that the systems are functioning properly.Provides information and warmly responds to guests’ questions; ensures excellent customer service to all visitors through every interaction; helps resolve guests’ problems with a sense of diplomacy and urgency.Provides feedback to Membership and Guest Experience department from members and visitors, and brainstorms solutions and tactics with fellow members of the division to continually make improvements.Prioritizes express check-in for members.Organizes express check-in for ticketing and members-only events.Assists with managing visitor waiting lines, collecting tickets, and counting visitors.Checks bags and personal belongings at the Coat Check as required.Assists visitors with checking in and out audio tours.Works with Group and School visitors to guide them on their visit.Assists with check-in and other functions during member events.Performs other related duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSOne (1) year of full-time verifiable experience as a vendor, cashier, or comparable position which requires assisting customers and handling cash on a daily basis.Courteous, helpful, efficient, and persuasive; good judgment, tact, and sense of humor.Excellent cash handling skills; ability to make accurate cash transactions.Ability to demonstrate a neat and courteous appearance to museum visitors.Ability to work well with staff, volunteers, members, and the general public; accurately, effectively, and enthusiastically communicate information regarding exhibition and museum procedures to museum visitors; represent the museum, its activities and programs in a positive, proactive manner.Ability to use good judgment and respond effectively in handling crowds and waiting lines; remain calm under pressure.Conscientious, flexible team player; punctual, honest, and reliable.Available to work weekends on a routine basis; shifts; evenings; holidays.WORKING CONDITIONSWorks at the front desk in the museum lobby.Standard museum and event settings.COMPENSATIONThe Asian Art Museum is committed to practicing salary transparency. The hourly range for this position is

$25.5074 - 30.6350 /hr.
