Fuel Performance Engineer
(hybrid work arrangement) to join the Fuel Rod & Thermal-Hydraulic Design team.
Your Day-to-Day:Participate in introductory training focused on standard analyses and obtain qualifications in the Fuel Performance functional area.Perform standard analysis work for US and international customers, following approved methodologies, procedures and internal processes while maintaining focus on nuclear safety and quality to produce error-free work. Analyses will support safe plant operation by confirming that fuel rods generate and transfer heat to the reactor coolant system while preventing the release of fission byproducts or to provide initial (pre-transient) fuel rod conditions as input to downstream safety analyses.Develop skills necessary to assume more independent assignments and verify standard evaluations and analyses performed by others.Support emergent issues and interface with our customer base and other functional groups within Westinghouse to support safe plant operation.Plan and schedule own work to meet assignment requirement within schedule and budget requirements.Participate on project teams and communicate to responsible project managers the nature and status of work projects.Identify and recommend improvements in process and tools on a continuing basis and assist in implementation.
Who You Are:Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Nuclear, and/or Mechanical, etc.) or related Discipline (e.g., Materials, etc.) preferred or recognized equivalent required.Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.Minimum 0-3 years of engineering experience required.Ability to apply fundamental engineering principles.Concise and effective written and verbal skills, ability to learn quickly and display a strong attention to detail.Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification is a plus.Computer programming skills preferred but not required.
