Sun River Health is currently seeking a full-time WIC Qualified Nutritionist/ Breastfeeding Coordinator to join our team in our Peekskill, NY site.
A qualified nutritionist at a local agency who has completed the educational requirements and practical experiences required to earn a degree and/or credential in the field of nutrition. This individual possesses expertise that qualifies him or her to perform all nutrition-related duties at the local agency, including providing and overseeing high risk care to high risk participants, and serving as the local agency's Breastfeeding Coordinator.
Job Competencies:
* Demonstrates proficiency conducting nutrition and breastfeeding assessment.* Provides excellent customer service using participant centered techniques such as introducing self and role, greeting participants by name, using open and close ended questions, probing skills, affirming, eye contact and reflective listening.* Provides leadership in planning, conducting and evaluating participant centered nutrition and breastfeeding services* Provides leadership and assist in orienting, training and mentoring new local agency staff and peer counselors* Ensures that all mandated trainings are completed and continuing education credits are achieved annually* Develops and implements individual care plans and oversee high risk care to all participants, coordinates with health care providers when necessary* Promotes breastfeeding and assists mother with breastfeeding initiation, establishing a milk supply, ongoing breastfeeding maintenance and concerns and issues breast pumps* Coordinates nutrition education, including breastfeeding promotion and support, that is responsive to the identified needs and interests of each high risk participant* Ensures that all Qualified Nutritionists competent in conducting breastfeeding assessments, providing appropriate breastfeeding services and referrals and tailors food packages to assist participants in meeting their needs and reaching their breastfeeding goals. Completes staff quality assessments.* Provides annual staff training about breastfeeding support, promotion and documentation to all local agency staff* Assists with the annual local agency compliance and self assessment focus area of breastfeeding* Routinely meets with local agency peer counselors for ongoing program implementation and improvement* Oversees offsite clinic flow and function, responsible for equipment and ebt cards when transported
Licenses and Certifications: Driver's License required, Registered Dietician (RD) optional
Minimum Education Requirement: Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree optional
Languages: English required, Spanish optional
Location: Peekskill, NY (Hybrid schedule)
Salary Range: $36,400.00-$45,500.00/annually
