Position Summary Orlando Health - Health Central Department: OR Status: Full Time Shift:Varies Title: Endoscopy Tech (This Endotech position will support the new Head and Neck and Colorectal program in processing scopes that will be performed in the clinic.) The Advanced Endoscopy Technician possesses advanced knowledge and skills necessary to perform advanced interventional endoscopic procedures that support and assist the work of the physician, RN and Endoscopy Team. Demonstrates a variety of advanced technical procedural skills including EUS machine, Endoscopy processors, ERBE , placement of esophageal, duodenal and colonic stents, Electrohydraulic lithotripsy, cyst gastrostomies, pancreatic necrosectomies, single balloon enteroscopy, radiofrequency ablation, and knowledge in the use of omega medical imaging equipment • Facilitates and provides staff training and education in assisting with advanced endoscopic procedure as well as oversight of scope handling, preparation and care of the scopes. • Demonstrates advanced knowledge in interventions used during endoscopy including wire manipulations, clips, assisting in performing of cyst gastrostomy and combined EUS/ERCP procedures. • Assists the physician with capturing of fluoroscopic images and image transfers as well as trouble shooting of equipment and tools, utilizing proficiencies in the use of fluoroscopy equipment. • Assists physician in multidisciplinary OR procedures in collaboration with other multidisciplinary teams • Labels and sends specimens to proper department/location for analysis. • Communicates appropriate information regarding patient status, technical equipment, or unit concerns to necessary healthcare workers. • Prepares procedure area and equipment for procedure. • Maintains, cleans, and stores endoscopic equipment and supplies. • Reprocesses Flexible Endoscopes according to policy. • Precepts new endoscopy technicians. • Transports and delivers items, equipment, and medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility. • Labels and sends specimens to proper department/location for analysis. • May have limited access to areas storing medications. • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Other Related Functions • Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work area. • Completes all Orlando Health mandatory education. • Attends department staff meetings as required. • Assumes the responsibility for professional development and continuing education. • Participates in nursing Environments of Care activities as assigned. Qualifications Education/Training High school graduate or equivalent Licensure/Certification • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification. • Must meet one of the following: o The Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associate Program with the designation of Gastroenterology Technician Specialist (GTS), or o Certification Board of Sterile Processing (CBSPD) Flexible Scope Certification. o Two (2) additional years of endoscopy experience Experience • Certified team members must have three (3) years of endoscopy experience. • Non-certified team member must have five (5) years of endoscopy experience.
