EDUCATION:
A minimum of a high school diploma or GED with a passing score on the approved paraprofessional assessment or two (2) years of college credit. ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Must be organized, reliable, and possess good interpersonal skills. Must be able to work under stress. Must possess the skills and abilities to professionally interact with a wide variety of people in person, in writing and by phone. Must possess good communication skills (written and verbal)
JOB FUNCTIONS: Perform duties that are instructional in nature and deliver direct services to students or parents.
Serve in a position for which a teacher or another professional has ultimate responsibility for the design and implementation of educational programs and services. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Discuss assigned duties with classroom teacher(s) in order to coordinate instructional efforts. Prepare bulletin board displays, exhibits, equipment, and demonstrations. Present subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of teachers. Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups in order to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers. Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, gymnasiums, and/or field trips. Distribute teaching materials such as textbooks, workbooks, papers, and pencils to students. Distribute tests and homework assignments, and collect them when completed. Enforce administration policies and rules governing students. Assist with grading various assignments under the direction of the teacher. Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials, in order to prevent injuries and damage. Observe students' performances, and record relevant data to assess progress. Organize and label materials, and display students' work. Organize and supervise games and other recreational activities to promote physical, mental, and social development. Plan, prepare, and develop various teaching aids under the guidance of the classroom teacher. Assist in bus dismissal. Atten
