JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary of Duties:
Acentra Health is seeking peer reviewers with at least 5 years of clinical experience to review medical records and make a standard of care determination. The reports require the peer reviewer to discuss clinical disease processes, published guidelines, overall care provided and QI recommendations.
This work is on-demand and Peer Reviewers can accept or decline a given review when asked. There is no way to know whether they will be sent/requested to complete a certain number of cases in a given year. It depends on the specialty. When asked to complete a case, they can opt out when the offer comes, though they must notify within 12 hours if they are accepting the case. They then have 5 business days to complete the review, which is a formal academic review. The review will then be assessed by the Medical Director. Sometimes the Medical Director will request a few revisions, such as ensuring they have answered all of the allegations made in the legal claim/complaint, ask that they support their conclusions with medical literature more clearly, or other similar edit requests.
Required Qualifications:
Active unrestricted license
Board certification
5 years of clinical experience
Active clinical practice of at least 20 hours per week
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
Excellent written communication skills
