**Position Description:**

Provides professional care for patients with obstetric and gynecologic needs. Assists patients in labor and delivery, as well as postpartum care. Ensures safety and health of mother and child and identifies need for additional care. Performs a variety of tasks. Works in conjunction with a practicing physician. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager

**Major/Essential Functions:**

+ Provides services in an interdisciplinary midwifery program

+ Provides full scope midwifery services to a largely Hispanic population in a medically underserved area.

+ Responsibilities include providing medical care and treatment to obstetrical patients in a division which is moving to 24/7coverage of births.

+ Educate nurse-midwifery and medical students with an interdisciplinary approach incorporating OB/GYN residents.

+ Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations.

+ Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures.

+ Demonstrates Professionalism in accordance with Paul L. Foster School of Medicine Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility.

+ Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross requiredAdhere to all TTUHSCEP policies, procedures and processes

+ Personally demonstrate, display, and act in accordance with TTUHSCEP values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork)

+ Perform all other duties as assigned

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ One year full scope midwifery practice or nursing practice.

+ Bilingual competence in English and Spanish.

+ MSN Degree. Graduation from an accredited school of Nurse-Midwifery. Eligible for unrestricted certification by AMCB.

+ Eligible for licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse in Texas under Nurse-Midwifery specialty.

+ Active enrollment in AMCB Certification Maintenance Program after receiving Certification. Eligible for Delegated Prescriptive authorization through the Texas Board of Nursing.

Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as, the institutional pay plan.
