Summary:

The Endoscopy Technician is knowledgeable of all instrumentation and scopes used during endoscopic procedures. Is responsible for the handling and processing of instruments/scopes. The Endoscopy Technician provides scheduled and non-scheduled services for the movement of patients to and from the Endoscopy/Urology department and nursing/clinical areas by ensuring optimal patient comfort and operational efficiency. Maintains general unit supplies, ensures scopes are in working order. The endoscopy Technician will assist with the set up and tear down of procedure rooms before and after cases. The Endoscopy Technician will be required to transport patients, specimens, supplies and participate in patient care as delegated by the Registered Nurse.

* High school graduate

EXPERIENCE

* Previous OR/endoscopy scope and equipment experience required* Previous experience in patient transfers and the use of assistive equipment is preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITY

* Requires knowledge of decontamination procedures* Ability to independently transport patients pushing wheelchairs and one additional device (oxygen, IV pump) or to push a stretcher or bed, navigating crowded hallways, negotiating turns, and boarding elevators* Ability to manage own time effectively and anticipate changes in workflow* Must possess patients and maturity in dealing with patients, families, as well as medical staff and other hospital personnel* Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the demands of the hospital

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (TECHNICAL/PHYSICAL)

* Requires prolonged standing, walking, and close machine/instrument work, lifting, pushing, and pulling supplies or equipment* Ability and willingness to perform routine repetitive tasks, pushing wheelchairs, carts, and other heavy equipment

WORKING CONDITIONS:

* Requires working with contaminated equipment and decontamination solutions. Ability to work closely with ill patients, often necessitating lifting or aiding patients in walking
