Harlem Hospital Center has been a bedrock of the Harlem community since 1887. Duties & Responsibilities
Assignment Level IIUnder general direction, performs or directly supervises the provision of professional general or specialty medical work of ordinary difficulty. Performs related work.1. Examines patients, orders or performs appropriate diagnostic tests.2. Formulates diagnosis, directs or performs appropriate therapeutic treatment and counsels patients.3. Consults with other members of the professional staff.4. Gives guidance and direction to the house staff and other members of the health care team.5. Participates in the teaching of house staff, in staff conferences, and in research projects as directed.
Assignment Level IIUnder general direction performs or directly supervises the provision of the most difficult and highly specialized professional general or specialty medical work. In addition to performing the duties of Assignment Level I at a more difficult and responsible level may perform the following: Examples of Typical Tasks1. Examines patients, orders or performs appropriate therapeutic treatment and counsels patients.2. Consults with other members of the professional staff.3. May give guidance, advice or professional medical opinion to less experienced members of the professional medical staff.4. Gives guidance and direction to the house staff, in staff conferences, and in research projects as directed.
Minimum Qualifications
Assignment Level IPhysicians Practicing General Medicine1. Graduation from an approved school of medicine; and2. Possession of a valid license to practice medicine in New York State.
Physicians Practicing in a Specialty Area1. Graduation from an approved school of medicine; and2. Possession of a valid license to practice medicine in New York State; and3. Current Board Certification issued by the appropriate American Specialty Board.
Assignment Level II & IIIPhysicians Practicing General Medicine1. Graduation from an approved school of medicine; and2. Possession of a valid license to practice medicine in New York State; and3. Five (5) years of full-time licensed experience as a physician practicing general medicine acceptable to the Medical Board of the hospital.
Physicians Practicing in a Specialty Area1. Graduation from an approved school of medicine; and2. Possession of a valid license to practice medicine in New York State; and3. Current Board Certification issued by the appropriate American Specialty Board; and4. Five (5) years of full-time licensed experience as a physician practicing in her/his field of specialty acceptable to the Medical Board of the hospital.
