Job Description:

SUMMARY Serves as a departmental resource and provides assistance to EMT faculty and students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assists EMT faculty in instructing lab skills for courses in Emergency Medical Technology to meet minimum instructor student ratio required by EMT program accreditation Responsible for set up and operation of the training lab Assists faculty with student based EMT projects Interface with the industry advisory board Assists the faculty in evaluation of student techniques for grade Collaborates with students and faculty to deliver courses Assists with the maintenance and cleanliness of EMT labs Exhibits patience and positive attitudes in establishing an encouraging learning environment Performs other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING High School Diploma (or equivalent) Certified or licensed for at least three of the last five years as an EMS provider, registered nurse or physician assistant Possess a current and valid certificate to practice as an EMS provider or holds a current and valid Ohio license to practice as a registered nurse or a physician assistant AHA BLS Certification

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES Possess working knowledge of EMT concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to apply in varied situations as it pertains to the departmental focus Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills Possess excellent customer service skills and proven ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationships Possess intermediate-level proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint Ability to diagnose and facilitate minor equipment repairs Ability to work independently and in a team environment Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion Ability to work a flexible schedule as directed Possess sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING Associate or Bachelor's degree in Emergency Medical Services, Science or a related field Registered Nurse Licensed in Ohio, with background in Emergency Nursing or Critical Care Physician's Assistant Licensed in Ohio, with background in Emergency or Critical Care State of Ohio EMS Instructor or Assistant EMS Instructor certification Minimum of five years of field experience as a Paramedic in Ohio ACLS and PALS Instructor Certification ITLS or AMLS Instructor Certification Demonstrated experience as classroom lecturer and lab instructor in EMT, Advanced EMT, and Paramedic training program
