Job Description:
SUMMARYServes as a departmental resource and provides assistance to EMT faculty and students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAssists EMT faculty in instructing lab skills for courses in Emergency Medical Technology to meet minimum instructor student ratio required by EMT program accreditationResponsible for set up and operation of the training labAssists faculty with student based EMT projectsInterface with the industry advisory boardAssists the faculty in evaluation of student techniques for gradeCollaborates with students and faculty to deliver coursesAssists with the maintenance and cleanliness of EMT labsExhibits patience and positive attitudes in establishing an encouraging learning environmentPerforms other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAININGHigh School Diploma (or equivalent)Certified or licensed for at least three of the last five years as an EMS provider, registered nurse or physician assistantPossess a current and valid certificate to practice as an EMS provider or holds a current and valid Ohio license to practice as a registered nurse or a physician assistantAHA BLS Certification
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIESPossess working knowledge of EMT concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to apply in varied situations as it pertains to the departmental focusPossess excellent written and verbal communication skillsPossess excellent customer service skills and proven ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationshipsPossess intermediate-level proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPointAbility to diagnose and facilitate minor equipment repairsAbility to work independently and in a team environmentAbility to exercise good judgment and discretionAbility to work a flexible schedule as directedPossess sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAININGAssociate or Bachelor's degree in Emergency Medical Services, Science or a related fieldRegistered Nurse Licensed in Ohio, with background in Emergency Nursing or Critical CarePhysician's Assistant Licensed in Ohio, with background in Emergency or Critical CareState of Ohio EMS Instructor or Assistant EMS Instructor certificationMinimum of five years of field experience as a Paramedic in OhioACLS and PALS Instructor CertificationITLS or AMLS Instructor CertificationDemonstrated experience as classroom lecturer and lab instructor in EMT, Advanced EMT, and Paramedic training program
