Under the supervision of the AmCare Leadership team
the AEMT is an integral part of the AmCare EMS team, providing medical care during emergent and nonemergent transports. The AEMT is responsible for assessing patients' conditions, administering advanced life support, and transporting patients to medical facilities for further treatment. AEMTs are an integral part of the healthcare system, provide critical care during emergencies and making a significant impact on patient's lives. The role of the AEMT demands quick thinking, compassion, and the ability to work as part of a team to deliver timely and effective pre-hospital care.
The roles and responsibilities of the AEMT include:Provide excellent patient care within the scope of practice of an AEMTProvide safe transport of the patient and crewRespond to emergent and non-emergent transportsProvides effective communication with patients, dispatch, crews, family members, and facility staffAbility operation communication devices; portable radio, cell phone, computer tabletCompletion of patient contact reports prior to shift completionEnsure maintenance of vehicles and equipment for transport readinessMaintain cleanliness of stationMaintain certifications with timely completion of refresher courses and CMEsRemain current on all state protocols, policies, and/or proceduresRepresent AmCare at community events as assigned
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSGraduation From High School or equivalent19 years old at time of hire for insurance purposesSuccessful completion of NRAEMT certificationCurrent NRAEMT and State AEMT (or ability to obtain with in 10 days of hire)Current AHA BLS CPR or ability to obtain within 10 days of hireCurrent AHA ACLS CPR or ability to obtain within 10 days of hireCurrent AHA PALS CPR or ability to obtain within 10 days of hireAbility to provide quality patient care within scope of practiceKnowledge of all state protocols for an AEMTValid driver's licenseAbility to drive company vehicles with a clean driving recordClear search on the VT AHS Adult Abuse Registry and Child Protection Registry databasesSuccessful completion of a state sponsored EVOC course or ability to obtain in 90 daysAbility to pass a lift test of 150 - 200 poundsAbility to pass a pre-employment drug testAbility to pass a pre-employment background checkAbility to speak and write English
