DESCRIPTION
Paraprofessionals generally support students in PreK-5 Inclusion programs, middle school (Grades 6-8) co-taught programs and the high school inclusion program. Paraprofessionals do not generally have child specific assignments, but rather are assigned to a classroom or classrooms.

WORKING TIME
Hours will be 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
ESSENTIAL DUTIESGeneral support of a classroom or classroomsProvide academic support and carry over of the lessons the teacher and special education teacher has developedProvide all accommodations delineated within a student's' designated IEP/504Implement modifications that have been developed by the classroom teacher and/or Special Education teacherDevelop materials based on specific instruction from the classroom teacher and/or Special Education teacherCreate opportunities and instructs students to be independent in a variety of settings across their school dayPotentially assigned to multiple/different classroom grade levelsAbility to implement behavioral/social support plans within the classroom to individual students or group of students (including but not limited to attending, non-compliance, completion of tasks, following rules and classroom expectations)Provide small- or whole group assistance within the classroomRegular Education and Special Education students will be supportedEngage individual and small groups of learners in instructional activitiesShare relevant information about learners with teachers and other school personnel as needed to facilitate problem solving, decision-making, and program planningSupport students to access a variety of technologyComplete all required documentation related to incidents, accidents, discipline, assault, etc.Complete data collection related to academic functioning/student performance that supports instructionFacilitate positive relationships and engagements with peersSupport students with organization of materials, assignments, and schedulesBased on the student population and census in the buildings, may be assigned different buildingsEnsure that all accommodations outlined in the IEPs are implemented based on student needsSupport students during their specials, lunch, and recess timesFacilitate and support arrival and dismissal timesMaintain student confidentialityCarry out other assignments designated by the Principal.
Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to effectively communicate.The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, climb, run.The employee must occasionally be able to lift and/or move children/objects.The employee must be able to work in a noisy, stressful, high-pressure environment and still be able to concentrate and keep children safe.Ability to respond to emergency situations (e.g. injured student, fights, behavior problems, abusive students, etc).May be exposed to bodily fluids including saliva, urine, feces, vomit, blood and/or other bodily fluids.The job is performed under conditions with exposure to risk of injury and/or illness, although in a clean environment.May assist medically fragile or physically disabled students for the purpose of maintaining students' personal hygiene.May assist students with physical and/or cognitive disabilities with grooming, feeding, toileting, diapering.
