Surgical Hospitalist

NVA, Fort Wayne, Indiana, United States, 46804

Do you want to be a vital member of a growing surgical team with the ability to learn and assist in a wide variety of complex surgical procedures? Northeast Indiana Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital (NIVES) in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking a full-time Surgical DVM/Hospitalist to join its busy surgical service.

This position is flexible based on your goals and interests! Are you an experienced ER or GP veterinarian looking to fine-tune your surgical skill set? Are you coming out of a rotating internship and want more surgical experience before heading into practice? Or perhaps you want to focus on surgery but aren't interested in going through a traditional residency program. NIVES is interested in helping you find your surgical path via extended 1:1 mentorship with Dr. Brad Coolman, DACVS and exposure to orthopedic, soft tissue and neurosurgery procedures. This position will include primary case responsibility as well as emergency surgical caseload.

The ideal candidate is someone with a strong work ethic and focus on NIVES's core philosophies (client service and patient care). Dependability and willingness to learn/be mentored will always be more important to us than any specific experience. We are interested in finding candidates who are focused on practicing high quality, progressive medicine in a collaborative team environment.

Our newly expanded 14,000 sq. ft. hospital is an AAHA accredited, VECCS Level II 24-hour facility. In addition to our emergency focused veterinarians, our hospital supports a team of board certified specialists, including Internal Medicine, Small Animal Surgery, K9 Rehabilitation Therapy, Feline Medicine and Cardiology.

NIVES serves the pet owners and veterinarians in the tri-state region of NE Indiana, SE Michigan and NW Ohio. Our team approach to emergency care means you'll have the support of specialists and experienced doctors to tackle difficult cases. Highly trained support staff and registered veterinary technicians work alongside our doctors. Each day the collaboration of the team starts and ends with daily case rounds with our board-certified specialists, ER clinicians and technicians. NIVES believes in teaching and supporting the next generation of doctors and routinely hosts students from around the world as part of our passion for professional development.
