Standardized Patient - SAMFE Program
Location:
Joint Base San Antonio - Fort Sam Houston, Texas
Position Overview:
The candidate will provide the services of Standardized Patients (SPs) for the United States Army Medical Center of Excellence Sexual Assault Medical Forensic Examiner (SAMFE) Program at Joint Base San Antonio - Fort Sam Houston, Texas. The SPs will play a crucial role in enhancing the training and education of medical professionals participating in the SAMFE Program. They will simulate patient encounters for medical forensic examination scenarios, contributing to the development of clinical skills and ensuring high-quality patient care in cases of sexual assault.
Key Responsibilities:Simulation Participation:
Act as a simulated patient in medical forensic examination scenarios, following predefined scripts and accurately portraying the physical and emotional aspects of the role.Encounter Quantity:
Conduct 15 simulated encounters per course iteration, maintaining consistency and realism throughout each interaction.Course Iterations:
Participate in ten (10) course iterations per year, providing a total of 50 SPs across all iterations.Collaboration:
Work closely with the SAMFE Program instructors to ensure the accurate portrayal of patients' medical history, emotions, and reactions during simulated encounters.Feedback:
Offer constructive feedback to medical professionals participating in the training program, based on observations and interactions, to facilitate skill development and improvement.Adherence to Standards:
Perform services in accordance with the standards outlined in the Performance Work Statement (PWS) and ensure that scenarios are conducted consistently and realistically.Professionalism:
Uphold a professional demeanor, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to punctuality and reliability in attendance for scheduled encounters.Training and Orientation:
Participate in training sessions to familiarize yourself with scenarios, scripts, and simulation techniques, ensuring high-quality performance.Documentation:
Complete accurate evaluations and assessments of participant performance based on predefined criteria and competencies.
Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework or higher education preferred.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to follow scripted scenarios and realistically portray emotions, medical conditions, and behaviors.Prior experience as a Standardized Patient or in a related role is an advantage.Willingness to undergo training and orientation to accurately simulate scenarios.Punctuality and reliability in attending scheduled encounters.Comfortable with technology and simulation equipment.Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in a medical training environment.
Working Conditions:This is a contract-based position with a requirement for 50 SPs per year, divided among ten (10) course iterations.Work takes place within a simulated clinical environment.Physical demands may include sitting, standing, and assuming specific positions during scenarios.Standardized Patients may portray patients of different genders, ages, and cultural backgrounds.The role requires a commitment to confidentiality and the ethical conduct of medical training.
