Your day as a EMT - Basic
As a Full-Time EMT - Basic at the City of Pharr, you will engage in daily EMS operations that are both challenging and rewarding. Your responsibilities will include operating ambulance equipment and responding promptly to radio transmissions, ensuring swift action during emergencies. You will lead and coordinate a team of professionals as you evaluate patient conditions on-site, performing preliminary differential diagnoses to determine the best course of action. Utilizing advanced technology and tools, you will stabilize patients and provide immediate treatments as necessary. Your expertise will be crucial in monitoring patient conditions during transport to the hospital.
Additionally, you will stabilize, immobilize, lift, and safely move victims from the scene of accidents or catastrophes, making a vital impact on their outcomes and exemplifying our commitment to customer-centric care.
Requirements for this EMT - Basic job
To excel as a Full-Time EMT - Basic with the City of Pharr, you will need a blend of technical skills and personal qualities. A minimum of two years' experience as an EMT-Basic is essential, along with the ability to obtain PHTLS certification within your first year. An AHA Basic Life Support Certification is also required. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred, enhancing communication with diverse populations.
Your knowledge of administrative and medical procedures will be vital for effective operation in this role. Strong communication skills are essential for conveying critical information to colleagues and patients. Additionally, logical reasoning will enable you to identify the strengths and weaknesses of various solutions when addressing emergencies. Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred. Knowledge of administrative and medical procedures. Skill to talk to others to convey information effectively. Skill to use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Ability to listen and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
