Neonatologist, Academic Position (Two Openings) - Full Time - Hartford Area Loca

The Division of Neonatology at Connecticut Children's has an opening for two full-time neonatologists with academic interests focusing on clinical, basic, or educational research. Areas of current emphasis include inflammation/microbiome, epidemiology/outcomes, artificial intelligence, neurosciences, and lung development/lung injury. Applicants with other areas of interest are also encouraged to apply. Clinical expertise in caring for infants with complex conditions, including infants requiring ECMO and dialysis desired. Clinical duties include caring for infants in our Level IV and III nurseries at the Connecticut Children's in Hartford and John Dempsey Hospital/UCONN in Farmington. The position may also include providing care in our Level III NICU at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain, Connecticut.
The Level IV NICU at Connecticut Children's is a busy 48-bed NICU supported by all surgical and medical specialty services. The unit serves as the hub for a network of nine NICU's throughout Connecticut. The Division of Neonatology has over 35 faculty, an active Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship with three fellows per year, and a active Neonatal Neurodevelopmental Follow-up Clinic.
* Provide assessment of patients by obtaining a comprehensive history.* Examines patients to obtain objective physical data and supporting information through laboratory and imaging modalities.* Formulate a differential diagnosis and develops a reasonable treatment plan to include pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions and making appropriate referrals as indicated.* Maintain ongoing documentation of patient interventions within the timeframe established by policy, to include documentation of initial assessment, treatment plans, progress notes and any other patient interactions, to include telephone calls.* Collaborate with nursing, support personnel and administration in matters affecting patient care.* Ensure the protection of patient rights and adherence to HIPAA regulations.* Ensures appropriate handoff communications are accomplished.* Responsible for teaching medical students, pediatric residents and neonatal fellows* Initiate and/or participate in specific research or other scholarly activities.* Academic title at the University of Connecticut will be commensurate with academic credentials.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education Required: M.D., or D.O. degree required
Active Scholarly Program with publication history is desirable
LICENSE and/or CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
Active CT Physician license
Active DEA
