JOB GOAL: To facilitate the instruction and care of students with teachers by effectively providing support services
REPORTS TO: Principal/Assistant Principal
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Possesses knowledge of District policies and regulations relating to areas of responsibilities 2. Maintains professional competence through participation in District provided in-service activities and/or self-selected professional growth activities related to job responsibilities 3. Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in school environment and community 4. Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced and outlined by certified staff 5. Assists the certified staff in devising special strategies for reinforcing learning materials and skills based on the understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities 6. Assists as directed by certified staff in the effort to successfully maintain students with special needs in an integrated setting, as determined by the grade level team 7. Assists teachers in instructional activities that allow for differentiated learning opportunities 8. Advises the certified staff and/or administrator to any problem or special information about a student 9. Develops positive working relationships with school personnel and parents 10. Is capable of physically assisting students with special needs, including students using wheelchairs, of any grade level (Preschool - 8th grade) with personal needs and care including eating, dressing, positioning, bathing/cleansing, grooming, toileting, standing, bus loading, and lifting/carrying or supporting students who may weigh 60 or more pounds 11. Assists with the monitoring and supervising of students during non-instructional times/areas such as: classroom, hall, lunch, recess, bus, or as otherwise requested 12. Promotes and models school behavior management programs 13. Assists and carries out other duties assigned by supervising teacher and/or by building administrator(s)
