Essential Functions:
Provides general nursing care to patients in specialized clinics, primary care clinics, schools and homesAssesses patient and family needs, counsel patients and develops health care plansInstructs patients in health education and disease prevention

UNDER ADMINISTRATIVE SUPERVISIONParticipates in quality assurance activitiesAssists physicians and nurse practitioners in providing examinations, obtaining patient histories, giving immunizations and providing prescribed tests, treatments and medicines to patientsPerforms nursing assessments and develops health care plans for patients seen in clinics, home and school settingsExamines children for communicable diseases and for communicative disorders and makes referralsEvaluates the growth and development of children and confers with teachers, principals and parents regarding child health problemsAssists in preparing for specialized clinicsFollows clinic operational proceduresProvides assessment of patient complaints and recommends appropriate action according to prescribed protocolCounsel patients regarding health status, risks, recommended actions and community resourcesOrganizes and schedules field workVisits homes of patients with communicable diseases to provide nursing servicesInspects premises for potentially hazardous conditions or infractions of sanitary codes and regulations and makes appropriate referralsInstructs student nursesProvides individual and group health education instruction and informationMaintains medical records and prepares reportsConducts follow up consultations with patients concerning abnormal test resultsAssists in orientation of nurses and other department personnelPerforms related work
Minimum RequirementsPhysical Requirements & Working Conditions:
Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work
Minimum Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing approved by the Kentucky Board of Nursing
Other Requirements:
Must be vaccinated for hepatitis B, have provided evidence of immunity, or have signed a declination form within ten days of initial assignmentMust provide one's own source of transportationMust work a varied scheduleMust wear personal protective equipment as mandated by OSHA
Special Requirements:
Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Kentucky (KRS 314 041) OR possess a provisional license from Kentucky Board of Nursing AND become a licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Kentucky prior to expiration of the provisional license
