POSITION SUMMARY: Contract position - Supporting health care needs of students K-12. This is a Float Nurse position for health room. Responsible for maintaining health records on student.
Starting ASAP until 06/17/2025 Shift Mon-Fri hours vary depending on campus - 7.5/day (37.5/wk).
Pay Rate $36.75/hr
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Monitor specified medical/health care needs of students. Administer student medications and medical procedures as directed and requested by physicians. Administer first aid, per guidelines of Federal Way Public Schools, American Red Cross, and Department of Health (multi-colored flip chart) within scope of licensure. Maintain records under the guidelines established by the ESA School Nurse and Federal Way Public Schools. Assist with health screening; maintaining information log; recording results of screenings. Maintain confidentiality or provide medical information regarding students according to law and professional ethics guidelines. Will be assigned additional nursing duties as appropriate under the Nurse Practice Act and relevant WAC's.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience: Washington State LPN license
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: Criminal background clearance Washington State LPN License - with a minimum 2yrs current experience. CPR/First Aid Certification through either American Heart Association or American Red Cross
KNOWLEDGE OF : School board policies and procedures Neurological/seizure protocol. Basic proficiency of standard computer software applications
ABILITY TO: Perform endotracheal or tracheostomy suctioning. Medication administration and documentation. Provide respiratory treatment and medication. Provide gastrostomy, colostomy, catheterization protocol and procedures. Provide blood glucose monitoring. Provide care for individuals with special needs and their care providers in a warm and confident manner. Establish and maintain effective communications and working relationships with health care professionals and school staff. Organize and perform job responsibilities efficiently and independently without close supervision and able to pay strict attention to detail Speak, read and follow written or verbal communications Practice effective safety and security within individual work routines Develop and maintain positive customer relations with staff and service providers Work collaboratively with District staff and promote teamwork with co-workers Practice ethical and professional standards of conduct including the requirements of confidentiality Relate effectively with parents, staff, students and the public in a multicultural and multiracial community Perform job responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations
