CANCER REGISTRY INTERN

POSTING DETAILS:
* The Cancer Registry intern will join our team for 34 weeks, working 19 hours each week.* Start date - As soon as you're ready we can accommodate your class schedule so that you may work during business hours.* You will need to upload a copy of your resume, transcripts, and cover letter explaining how your skills are a good fit for this position, must have a current GPA standing of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.* Compensation based on education and experience.
JOB SUMMARY:
* We are seeking a talented and engaged intern who is working toward a degree and wants to develop beyond the classroom!

* You would be a great fit if you have excelled in courses such as Applied Technology or Computer & Information Technology or if you can demonstrate that you are particularly tech-savvy.* In this role, you will be responsible for preparing electronic and paper case reports, entering paper case reports into the registry database, coding demographic data items and preliminary cancer primary site and histology in the registry database.* You will be coached and mentored by the Arizona Cancer Registry Operations Manager, and/or others on the team by collaborating with them on group projects.
YOU WILL BRING THE FOLLOWING TO THE INTERNSHIP:
● Strong verbal and written communication skills.
● Time management, organization, planning, and problem-solving skills.
● Ability to troubleshoot and identify potential technical challenges.
YOU WILL GAIN THE FOLLOWING FROM THIS INTERNSHIP:
● Introductory knowledge of the Cancer Registry.
● Experience entering data into a cancer registry database.
● Experience working with confidential patient medical records.
● Collaboration with a diverse team of professionals.
SELECTIVE PREFERENCES:
* Working towards a degree and a strong desire to develop beyond the classroom.
* Tech savvy, creative, curious, persistent!
Pre-Employment Requirements:
Employees who drive on state business require possession of and the ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (See Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11).
