Position Summary
:

Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU). This position is designated for licensed Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and Physicians Assistants to practice as an independent provider in collaboration with ICU intensivists, fellows and residents within a multidisciplinary surgical critical care team.

The APP is responsible for providing comprehensive care to critically ill patients under delegated physician authority. The provider is responsible for participating in daily rounds, communication with other surgical services, completion of daily progress notes, H&P's as well as ICU procedures.
+
The SICU APP role is challenging and rewarding and allows the APP the opportunity to practice to the fullest extent of their scope of practice
Job Type/Schedule:
+
FULL TIME-3 night time shifts equivalent to 40 hours per week, minimum of one weekend per month and 2 holidays per year.
+
The APP will have in house ICU intensivist coverage along with a resident compliment
+
Individual will receive full time benefit package including PTO, holidays, Professional Development Allowance,
40 hours of CME time .
GENERAL SUMMARY: The NP-ICU/Critical Care will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary critical care unit. The NP-ICU/Critical Care will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, consultation, and care coordination as a first line provider to critically ill patients and their families.

Provides inpatient medical care for critically ill patients requiring ICU level of care.
+
Works in collaboration with intensivist physicians, attending physicians, consultants, house officers, nurses, and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently.

Specific procedures as per credentialing as indicated by training and experience.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

The Nurse Practitioner must have a current registered nurse license with the State of Michigan, a Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing school and have completed an Adult Acute Care NP program as well as Nurse Practitioner certification in the state of Michigan. Family Nurse Practitioners will not be considered
+
Physician Assistants must have graduated from accredited Physician Assistant program, be certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, have an active State of Michigan Physician Assistant License.

All APPs are expected to develop and maintain a collaborative agreement with supervising physician.

BLS and ACLS certification required
+
Must be eligible or have obtained a DEA number for prescriptive authority in Michigan.
+
Must have no encumbering circumstances which would prevent credentialing by the Henry Ford Medical board.
+
At least five years' experience as a Registered Nurse within a critical care environment is required and 2 years as an inpatient Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner is preferred but not required. - OR- Physician Assistants with a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in adult setting is preferred.
