The Sup, Inpatient Milk Lab is responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of milk preparation technicians and ensuring the safe and accurate preparation of specialized milk formulations for clinical use. This role requires a strong understanding of clinical nutrition principles, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to maintain high standards of quality and safety.
**Responsibilities**
+ Provide leadership and guidance to a team of milk preparation technicians, including scheduling, training, performance management, and ensures staff adheres to HMH standards of behavior and job-specific competencies.
+ Responsible for technicians's schedules, approval of benefit time, payroll approval, assessment of competencies and performance evaluations.
+ Develops and updates policies and procedures related to nutrition services.
+ Ensure that all milk preparation processes adhere to regulatory standards, hospital policies, and clinical nutrition guidelines.
+ Implement and monitor quality control measures to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and safety of prepared milk formulations.
+ Oversee inventory levels of milk preparation supplies and ingredients, and coordinate ordering as needed to maintain adequate stock levels.
+ Work closely with healthcare professionals, including dietitians, physicians, and nurses, to ensure that patient-specific nutritional needs are met through the provision of specialized milk formulations.
+ Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the milk preparation lab, and implement strategies to enhance operational effectiveness.
+ Provide ongoing training and education to milk preparation technicians on topics such as proper preparation techniques, safety protocols, and infection control measures.
+ Maintain accurate records of milk preparation activities, including batch records, quality control logs, and inventory reports.
+ Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
+ Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
**Qualifications**
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
+ Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Science, or related field.
+ Minimum of 2 years of experience in clinical nutrition, preferably with experience in milk preparation or neonatal nutrition.
+ Prior supervisory or leadership experience in a healthcare or food service setting.
+ Strong knowledge of clinical nutrition principles, including specialized nutritional requirements for neonatal and pediatric patients.
+ Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
+ Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
+ Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to food safety and nutrition labeling.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
+ Master's Degree
Licenses and Certifications Required:
+ Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.
