Full Time Floating School Nurse

School District is committed to 100% of schools having a nurse on-site and are proud to successfully achieve this to this point. However, they have recently needed to float community health department nurses to schools, when they generally have other duties to address. So we need 2-3 more full time School Nurses in order to help them achieve their goal and remain among the top percentile of districts always having on site nurses
full time, no set school should be open to floating if asked or be prepared to go to any school assigned
Hours vary per school depending on HS, MS, or ES, hours start from 7am to 8:30am respectively
health suite nursing along with team of RNs
Dawn and Lynn in the health suite are available to assist by phone if needed
Phone screen interviews, very quick feedback
The School Nurse assumesresponsibility and accountability for the application of the nursing processand the delivery of student/client care and/or contracted services in a schoolsetting. The School Nurse may also be in a supervisory position within the contractedservices. The School Nurse provides services in accordance with Amergis Healthcare's philosophy, standards, policies and physician orders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Utilizes the nursing process toplan, implement and evaluate student's care needsDemonstrates on each assignmentthe provision of skill nursing care in accordance with prescribed orders/IHPPerforms interventions,treatments and medications administration according to the identifiedpriorities as outlined in the IHPMonitors and documentseffectiveness of interventions, treatments and medicationsCompletes documentation perclient expectationsCoordinates and facilitatesservices as requested between the school, local health agencies and othercommunity resources to meet the needs of the studentCommunicates with the schooldistrict personnel about student's plan of care/IHPNotifies District SchoolNurse/Amergis Supervisor /Parent/Physician as outlined in the IHP regarding thefollowing:
Changes in condition of studentPhysician notification to obtainnecessary ordersCollaborates with school/educationpersonnel/other health agencies as requested, to design and meet student'shealth care needsEvaluates and assures student safetyat all timesAdheres to Amergis Healthcare andschool district policiesMaintains accuracy in student healthrecordSupports professional practice byobserving the following:Nurse Practice ActStandards of Nursing PracticeStandards of Patient CareStandards of accrediting body (The Joint Commission)State lawsEducational Codes and Federal Laws as described in the ADA and IDEAPatient Bill of RightsAmergis Healthcare and schooldistrict policiesAt request of school districtparticipates in student care conferences/Individualized Education Program (IEP)LPN/LVNs should direct questionsregarding orders and changes in condition to a Supervising RN (DN and/orClinical Supervisor)Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
Graduate of an accreditedregistered, practical or vocational nursing programLicensed as a LicensedPractical, Licensed Vocational or Registered Nurse in state(s) where practicingOne year of professionalexperience, preferredComplies with acceptedprofessional standard and practiceWillingness to participate inskill advancement, if applicableParticipation and completion of Amergis' Competency programCurrent CPRPPD or chest x-ray if applicableCurrent Health certificate (percontract or state regulation)Must meet all federal, state andlocal requirementsSuccessful completion of newhire training as applicable to job siteUnderstand patientconfidentiality and HIPAA requirementsAbility to effectivelyelicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, butnot limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communicationskills; proficiency in the English language may be requiredComputer proficiency requiredMust be at least 18 years of age
