The Wound Ostomy Continence (WOC) Registered Nurse is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse providing consultative services for providers and expert care for patients with wound, ostomy and continence needs. Working under minimal supervision, the WOC RN supports the entire healthcare team and works collaboratively with providers, both generalists and specialists, to implement the optimal plan of patient care.

Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to plan and achieve optimal clinical outcomes for patients with wound, ostomy and continence needs.
Identifies areas for improvement in clinical practices, policies, and procedures, and develops recommendations to enhance patient outcomes and optimize resource utilization.
Reviews and assesses clinical data, including patient records, photographs, and diagnostic tests, and incorporates research findings to identify trends and opportunities for improvement in clinical processes and outcomes.
Formulates individualized plans of care to address patient needs related to diversity, cultural differences, or other unique variables.
Reinforces and ensures appropriate patient education is carried out according to the plan of care. Assesses the educational needs for healthcare team members, plans and implements appropriate educational opportunities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:Required: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Master's Degree in Nursing within 5 years of hire
EXPERIENCE:Required: 5 years as a Registered Nurse with 1 year caring for patients with wound, ostomy and continence needs
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:Required:
Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact state
Certification in all three areas of specialty practice (Wound, Ostomy and Continence) required within 1 year of hire
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
