Advanced Practitioner Role Scope
Nurse Practitioners (APRN) / Physician Assistants provide direct lactation support and education to patients and staff to ensure that a high quality, cost effective service is delivered. Advanced Practitioners are responsible for providing comprehensive, advanced, and specialized health services across the continuum of the patient's lactation experience. This is an opportunity to work collaboratively with the Labor and Delivery, Maternity, and Women's health and ambulatory health services. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to patient and staff education, consultation and partnerships with health care resources and others within our organization, network and community.

Advanced Practitioner Requirements
* Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, Nurse-Midwifery Program Master's program preferred* Licensed, or eligible to be licensed, as a Physician Assistant, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of Connecticut* Certification or eligible to be certified as a Physician Assistant or National Board Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse through AACN or ANCC, or Certification by the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM)* International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) - preferred* 1-3 years of experience in Maternal Child Heath or Family Practice
