**Responsibilities**
In collaboration with the physician/medical director assumes clinical responsibility for tasks performed within Nurse Practitioners scope of practice. Including: taking patients history performing physical examinations ordering appropriate diagnostic tests establishing diagnosis and provide care and management for common illnesses and disease prevention in the pediatric and adult patient. The NP may assist in the admission transfer or discharge from Health Care System. Makes appropriate referrals to specialists and community agencies. Participates in quality assurance and quality improvement program. Works within multidisciplinary team to develop plan for the patient and their family. In addition to the routine duties of detailed in NP scope of practice the in-patient specialty NP will provide care and management for acutely ill patients respond to emergency situations and may also see patients in the intensive care units.
+ Provides immediate intervention to patients in distress
+ Assess and correctly interpret clinical changes in the acute care areas
+ Performs patient evaluations, reviews pre-op teaching, orders appropriate diagnostic test, recommends therapeutic intervention and counsels patients and families
+ Performs discharge summaries, consultations in timely manner
+ Collaborates with appropriate physicians, residents, ancillary and nursing staff to provide other appropriate direct care interventions within scope of practice.
+ Assists in coordination of hospital care and patient procedures
+ Provides education to patients, families, community, and colleagues using various teaching strategies.
+ Utilizes special educational methods that are age appropriate
+ Maintains accurate documentation in the medical record including problem list and charges for services and gives patient care direction to nursing and other staff.
+ Actively participates in in various professional development opportunities such as evidenced by formal presentations and publications.
+ Participates in hospital-wide allied health cmte initiatives or other cmtes as appropriate . Attends weekly med teach specialty conferences. Participates in clinical research activities within dept.

**Qualifications**
**MINIMUM**
Master's in nursing Graduate of accredited program for nurse practitioners.
Three years clinical experience in area of specialty.
1. Compact state or Arizona RN license (RN),
2. Arizona Advance Practice Nurse license (LIC APN),
3. National Certificate as an nurse practitioner in area of specialty under AZ regulations:
a. CT NP-AACN,
b. CT NP-AANP,
c. CT NP-ANCC, or
d. CT NP-PNCB,
4. Valid DEA registration (DEA),
5. American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (CT ACLS)
and
6. American Heart Association Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider (CT CPRBLS
**Pay Range**
$51.66-$86.79 /hour
