Job Summary
As a Lactation Consultant RN, you'll create a breastfeeding plan. Educate parents and staff, update protocols, provide consultation. Ensure infants and parents are well by guiding them in breastfeeding.
What You'll Do
* Encourage breastfeeding for infant health. Offer consultations, materials, and classes to help parents and medical team.* Evaluate parent and baby interest in breastfeeding.* Provide specialized help for mothers. Offer bedside consultations and follow-up visits in hospital.* Keep the medical staff updated, providing education about breastfeeding protocols, care plans, and recent information.* Document all the teachings and responses, and communicate these findings to the relevant staff members.* Regularly assess the efficiency of the breastfeeding program and make necessary changes if required.* Participate in collecting data and reporting on neonatal outcomes, specifically those related to breastfeeding.* Provide parents with information and demonstrations about breast pump rentals or purchases, if required.

* You must give good care to moms and babies. Show respect for diversity. Modify patient care plans as needed.* You must work autonomously without supervision.* Good written and oral communication skills are essential for this job.* Interacting positively with diverse people is crucial.* Good problem-solving and critical thinking skills are necessary.* You need basic computer skills. Use software, enter data, keep records secure, and scan with a handheld device.

Qualifications
* Associate degree, preferably in nursing.* A minimum of (2) two years of professional experience is needed.* You need to be certified or licensed in various areas which include:* BLS Certification.* Registered Nurse.* Certified Lactation Consultant or International Lactation Certification. CLC: Certified Lactation Consultant OR IBCLC: International Lactation Certification.
