Job Description
In collaboration with the attending physician, provides day to day organizational and clinical direction and leadership of the healthcare provider team.
1. Performs comprehensive history and physical assessment for patients admitted/scheduled to service/practice setting. .
2. Orders obtains, and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests.
3. Establishes medical diagnosis based on history, assessment, and diagnostic findings.
4. 2+ years of experience in wound care
5. Wound care training certificate and ability to become certified within 6 months of employment.
6. Develop and manage an individualized wound care treatment plan for optimal healing outcomes or chronic maintenance.
7. Collaborates closely with facility wound nurse and nursing staff on wound management practices
8. Knowledge of up-to-date topical wound care products and therapies, including ordering, application, and management of the products on wounds and ostomies, also including negative pressure wound therapy
9. Provides hands-on wound care to patients, including debridement of wounds by enzymatic, sharp, or autolytic methods when appropriate
10. Orders, reviews, interprets, and integrates diagnostic studies and laboratory findings to initiate or modify the treatment plan.
11. Collaborates with the patient's primary care provider when comorbidities are contributing to or affecting the healing of a wound to determine a comprehensive plan
12. Prescribes medications and/or durable medical equipment to assist in the healing of wounds

Qualifications
* Master of Science Degree with completion of an appropriate primary or acute care care Nurse Practitioner program. Registered and currently recorded with the Maryland Board of Examiners of Nurses and Certified as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland. Certified in area of specialty. DEA and CDS eligible* BCLS as required* Must have wound care training certificates or wound care certification ( The American Board of Wound Management (ABWM) • National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy (NAWCO) • The Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB).* Must complete a 40-hour UMMS-approved hyperbaric medicine introductory course within 3 months of hire
