What You'll Do:Prepare a variety of written materials (e.g. attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of documenting student progress and meeting mandated requirements as directed by special education teacher.Provide instructional classroom support for students with disabilities including support in literacy and numeracy as documented by student's IEP (under supervision of special education teacher).Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) and complete daily behavior trackers.Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings.Adapt and implement general education curricular materials for the purpose of providing students with instructional materials that address individualized learning needs as directed by special education teacher.Collaborate with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes.Use data for data-based decision-making regarding student performance.Consult regularly with Case Manager, administrative staff about student academic and social performance.Participate in professional development regarding paraprofessional services and IEP implementation.

Who You Are:

Key Qualities and Skills

Knowledge of:Child guidance principles and practices, especially as they relate to:Under the general direction of the school's Executive Director, and under the immediate supervision of a Special Education teacher directly engaged in teaching subject matter or conducting activities, assists in the instruction of disabled students; implements Behavior Intervention Plan; and performs related duties as required.Basic subjects taught in schools, including arithmetic, grammar, spelling, language, and reading.Basic record-keeping techniques.

Ability to:Ability to work with and for students with various disabilities, middle school ages to twenty-one (21) years of age.Ability to follow written and oral instructions and direction.Ability to complete and maintain basic written reports.The ability to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is highly desirable. Individuals who do not provide evidence of the completion of training in CPR at the time of initial employment in this class title will complete CPR training as a condition of employment.)Assist with instruction and related activities in an assigned special education program.Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.Ability to collect daily progress monitoring data as related to IEP goals and Behavior Intervention Plan.

What You Need:

Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent;Bachelor's degree; or completion of 2 years of college (48 units); or Associate's degree (AA) or passing score on State Parapro assessment.Candidates must possess flexibility, curiosity, perseverance, a sense of humor and a burning passion to see students succeed.Have reliable transportation.Pass a criminal background check per education code.Ability to work independently and problem solve.ABA experience preferred.
