Job Overview:
The Gynecologic Oncology Nurse Practitioner (GYN Oncology NP) will provide comprehensive care to patients with gynecologic cancers. This role involves both direct patient care and coordination of services in an oncology setting, inpatient unit, surgical suite and offsite GYN offices. The NP will work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, Residents, fellows and other healthcare professionals to deliver patient-centered care and optimize clinical outcomes.
Qualifications:
Required:
+ Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the state of New Jersey
+ Current RN and NP licensure in the state of New Jersey
Preferred:
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in oncology nursing, with specific experience in gynecologic oncology
+ Certification in Oncology Nursing (OCN) or Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AOCNP)
Scheduling Requirements:
+ Monday- Friday: 9am - 5pm with some late nights
+ Alternate weekend coverage
+ Full Time
Essential Functions:
+ Patient Care: - Conduct thorough assessments of patients' medical histories, physical conditions, and symptoms. - Perform physical exams, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop treatment plans. - Manage and monitor treatment plans, including chemotherapy, radiation, and surgical interventions. - Provide follow-up care and manage side effects of treatments. - Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with state regulations and collaborative agreements. - Offer counseling and education to patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and supportive care.
+ Collaboration and Coordination: - Work closely with oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care. - Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and case conferences. - Coordinate referrals to other specialists and supportive services as needed.
+ Patient Education and Support: - Educate patients and their families about the disease process, treatment plans, and expected outcomes. - Provide emotional support and guidance throughout the treatment journey. - Develop and implement patient education materials and programs.
+ Clinical Documentation: - Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) system. - Document all patient interactions, assessments, treatments, and follow-ups.
+ Billing: - Adhere to the system s process to properly document, and drop charges after each patient visit.
+ Research and Professional Development: - Stay current with the latest research and advancements in gynecologic oncology. - Participate in clinical research projects and quality improvement initiatives. - Attend continuing education sessions and professional conferences to enhance clinical knowledge and skills.
+ Compliance and Quality Assurance - Adhere to all relevant clinical guidelines, protocols, and regulatory requirements. - Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities. - Ensure compliance with hospital and department policies and procedures.
