The Psychiatric/Mental Health (PMH) Registered Nurse,requires a wide range of nursing, psychosocial, and neurobiological expertise.PMH nurses promote well-being through prevention and education, in addition tothe assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health and substance usedisorders. The nurse demonstratesability to make clinical judgments in an effective and efficient manner anddemonstrates critical thinking and performance ability in the coordination ofpatient care. The PMH RN works in avariety of settings and provides comprehensive care to individuals, families,and communities when applicable.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement andevaluate patient care in a psychiatric facility settingPartners with individuals to achieve their recovery goalsProvides health promotion and maintenanceConducts intake screening, evaluation, and triageProvides case managementTeaches self-care activitiesAdministers and monitors psychobiological treatment regimensPractices crisis intervention and stabilizationEngages in psychiatric rehabilitation and interventionEducates patients, families, and communitiesCoordinates care within interdisciplinary teamsEvaluates signs and symptoms indicating physiologic andpsychosocial changes in the patient's conditionIdentifies and prioritizes actions based upon patient carerequirementsProvides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic patientenvironmentRevises the plan of care according to evaluation, changes inpsychiatric and medical plan of care, and effective/ineffective nursinginterventionsHas strong awareness and understanding of suicidepreventionUnderstands community resources and outpatient programs formental health and substance use disordersAdheres to Facility/Client procedures and protocols at alltimesPerforms other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
Current Registered Nurse Licensure in-state practicingComplies with all relevant professional standards ofpracticeParticipation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicableCurrent CPR if applicableTB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicableCurrent Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)Must meet all federal, state and local requirementsSuccessful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob siteUnderstand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirementsAbility to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is requiredComputer proficiency requiredMust be at least 18 years of age
