Oncology Support Specialist - Medical Oncology - Full Time

Position Summary
This position works with nurses, physicians, financial advisors to make sure that patients are being scheduled appropriately for treatments. Coordinates all ancillary testing and provider visits ensuring treatments are scheduled accurately and on time.
Experience
A minimum of two years of prior medical assisting experience preferred.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Licenses
+ No licensing requirements.
Essential Functions
+ Provides excellent customer service to patients requiring treatment or care.
+ Pleasantly meets with patients in person or by telephone to coordinate care.
+ Coordinates all infusion patient's treatments, ancillary appointments, provider visits.
+ Working with infusion nursing to ensure all requirements have been met prior to new start.
+ Performs office duties to ensure patient care needs are met.
+ Schedules patient appointments and maintains scheduling system in a manner that meets treatment needs and works best for the patient.
+ Ensures phone system messages are responded to promptly, keeps voice mail messages up to date.
+ Creates and delivers calendar of scheduled treatments to patient.
+ Coordinates Preauthorization's on medication, procedures, and testing as required.
+ Works with patient financial advocate and front desk staff to ensures authorization is completed on all required testing and medication prior to date of medication, procedure, or test.
+ Ensures that treatment plan is authorized prior to scheduling.
+ Ensure that outside providers have received paper orders for non- oncology treatments and that they have been entered by pharmacy and authorization prior to scheduling.
+ Manages the specialty pharmacy medications ensuring medications have arrived prior to scheduled appointment. Reaching out as appropriate for new prescriptions.
