POSITION PURPOSE:
Performs a variety of tasks; assisting the teacher in the development of an instructional program by working with students individually or in small/large groups, preparing instructional materials, assisting in implementation of classroom discipline, and conducting planned activities using teacher- designated methods and materials. Some positions may require aptitude and skill in working with the particular disabilities or learning needs of students.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of sixty college hours, or a Missouri substitute certificate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Embrace and work continually in support of the district mission of "Striving for Excellence...Learning for All." Provide assistance in and out of the classroom Assist school personnel with daily activities. Manage traffic control/student crossings recess/lunchroom supervision Perform office duties Work closely with parents, teachers and students. Maintain a good work record/punctuality. Operate various office machines/computers. Maintain confidentiality. Perform other duties as assigned. Assist in managing the behavior of students Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students Maintain confidentiality of information about children and their families in accordance with Board policy and law Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings and special events as requested by administration Assist in managing the behavior of students Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students Maintain confidentiality of information about children and their families in accordance with Board policy and law Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings and special events as requested by administration Demonstrate standards of character and behavior to serve as an effective role model for students Demonstrate a positive attitude in working with children with special needs Assist in monitoring classroom management in accordance with the district's discipline procedures, which may include the physical restraint, physical movement, lifting and carrying of students. Perform various clerical functions in student record keeping, monitor assignments, IEP development, maintain accurate files, and other related functions; Check notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing and make up work as assigned by the teacher; Serve as a source of information and support to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher; Assist classroom teacher in diagnostic testing and reporting; Provide remedial instruction as requested; Assist the classroom teacher in maintaining class and student records;

Ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to work independently without direct supervision. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is an at-will position that may be terminated by either the school district or the employee with a two week notice. Salary is dependent on experience and the paraprofessional salary schedule.
