Description of Position:
The Nursing Remediation Specialist provides approximately twenty (20) hours per week assisting undergraduate nursing students to be successful in nursing courses, academic performance, and NCLEX licensure examinations. The Remediation Specialist works with faculty to detect at-risk students early, allowing for timely intervention, and uses evidence-based strategies to enhance retention, academic progress, and success on the NCLEX examination. The Remediation Specialist reports directly to the Dean of Nursing.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* Meets with nursing faculty regularly to identify at-risk students.* Meets with at-risk students to create an individualized remediation plan, monitor student progress, and documentation of efforts aimed at remediation.* Assists students to identify and utilize resources that may facilitate student success such at ATI software.* Analyzes student test scores and other pertinent data to identify student strengths and weaknesses within the nursing program.* Integrates testing resources to promote learning of overall course content and increase student performance on course exams.* Creates innovative methods and integrates strategies to enhance test-taking skills, study skills, and the ability to take notes in order to increase course performance.* Demonstrates knowledge of the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) RN test plan and priorities for examination preparation.* Demonstrates the ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds and educational levels to advise students about the remediation process.* Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication to effectively engage with students* Demonstrates professionalism and a positive, encouraging attitude while working with students.* Completes student tracking to monitor student progress and improvement.* Documents the remediation process and reports to the dean on a regular basis.
Qualifications:
* BSN and nursing experience. Compensation based on qualifications and experience. Must be a visible CHRISTIAN and give witness as a person who lives a life that honors the Lord Jesus Christ and is consonant with the Statement of Christian Standards of Louisiana Christian University and the Baptist Faith And Message 2000.
