Fairweather, LLC is looking for Locum Tenens PAs and NPs to join our medical team of professionals for a drive to provide excellent patient care.

Fairweather's medical department consists of physician assistants, nurse practitioners, paramedics, EMT II/III and registered nurses. The number of employees varies based on camp location and work activity levels.

WORK LOCATION and Schedule:

* Remote Alaska / Prudhoe Bay, Alaska (North Slope)* 2- or 3-week rotations, 12 hours/day for 7 days/ week shifts, and on-call after hours* Must be willing to work overtime and be on-call while at the site as needed* Must be willing to work weekends and holidays as needed* Locum Tenens - year-round opportunities* May be required to fly in small aircrafts

REPORTS TO: Fairweather Medical Manager and Fairweather Medical Director/Collaborating Physician

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Practitioner for acute and occupational medical care. This includes routine minor illnesses, medical emergencies, and trauma. Directs triage, patient transport, and medical supervision at mass casualty incidents. Interfaces with other response team sections.* Diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries in the workforce according to a collaborative agreement with the supervising physicians.* Prescribe and dispense appropriate pharmaceuticals, including controlled substances, as approved by the supervising physician, within the scope of the collaborative agreement and in accordance with DEA regulations.* Determine the need for emergency air evacuation of seriously ill or injured patients to appropriate medical centers in Anchorage and Fairbanks* Conduct laboratory and electro-cardiograph diagnostic procedures as required.* Refer patients to appropriate consulting physicians within Alaska when required.* Attend daily and/or weekly safety and training sessions with the Medical Director and/or Medical Emergency Response Team* Maintain medical records according to company policies and expected standards of medical practice. This includes but is not limited to injury reporting, completion/review of medical forms, and maintenance of statistical logs.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

* Active Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner License with Alaska State License* Professional certification with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)* 3-5 years of family, internal medicine, or emergency medicine experience* 2 years of remote experience is preferred.* Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification* Advance Trauma Life Support (ATLS) preferred.* Knowledge of OSHA first aid policies* OSHA First Aid refers to medical treatment defined by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) as minor care provided at the workplace that does not result in a recordable injury for workplace injury and illness logs.

* Must possess a valid driver's license.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

* Considerable time walking, standing, stooping, sitting, lifting, and assisting with positioning the patient.* Exposure to anesthetic gases, blood and body fluids, sharps, and other health care occupational hazards.* Exposure to hospital-grade cleaning solutions, flammable solutions, and gases, e.g., alcohol and oxygen, as well as latex and other industrial chemicals.* May be required to fly in small aircraft.
