Family Literacy Program is looking for hourly as reported child care paraeducators to work with children ages birth to 5 years-old in childcare setting. The childcare is supporting our family literacy program. Must be comfortable working with non English speaking children and parents. Responsibilities of the position include punctuality, assembling and disassembling the childcare area each day, planning engaging learning opportunities, serving snacks and communication with staff, students and families.
Family Literacy is a family-centered approach to education that brings children and families together to learn. Participating parents attend their child's school Monday through Friday. Parents identify educational and career goals, and engage in learning English along with other parents. Participants also engage in Parent Time and PACT time during the week, as well. Parent Time is sessions based on parent-generated topics and goals that connect curricular objectives and family learning activities. PACT (Parents and Children Together) time encourages parent-child interactions, including bringing children and parents together to work, play, read, and learn in the child's classroom during the school day. Participating children are supported to reach the goals established in the LPS literacy curriculum.
