VCA Veterinary Emergency and Veterinary Specialty Center, in Middleton, WI is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency Team!
Snapshot of the Role:
As an Emergency team member, you will support the Emergency doctor teams by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients.
Our Emergency and Critical Care Technicians thrive in a fast-paced service, handle critical case, and enjoy the stimulating caseload. Our Technicians have the opportunity to sharpen and advance their technical skills every day.
* Performing triage assessments and prioritizing cases as they present* Manage the ER by assigning clinicians to cases as they present and coordinate timely interventions as needed* Abide by appropriate hospital SOPS for infection control when handling patients, providing interventions/treatments, and processing/performing diagnostic testing.* Communicate effectively with clients regarding the status of their pets and home care* Placing intravenous catheters, performing laboratory diagnostics* Performing abdominal and thoracic radiographs* Assisting with examinations* Inducing, maintaining, and monitoring anesthesia for ER procedures* Recovering patients from anesthesia* Performing nursing care of all patients presenting to the ER* Run diagnostics and correlate results with the clinical presentation of the patient and notify clinicians with results.* Assisting the ER clinicians with providing instruction and demonstration of emergency medicine skills to veterinary students, interns, and residents in a clinical setting.* Assist students with accomplishing the necessary student learning objectives* Develop professional relationships with the CSR team to aid in providing outstanding customer service to all ER clients* Enter charges for all triage patients and document treatment sheets* Assist in providing clinical support to doctors and other technicians/nurses* Provide restraint of patients without risk to patient, self, and others.* Abide by appropriate hospital SOPS for infection control when handling patients, providing interventions/treatments, and processing/performing diagnostic testing.* Provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients based on attention to detail* Utilize monitoring equipment and recognize trends* Assist with clinical procedures and offer direction to others.* Maintain a clean and organized work environment* Participates in CE for the purpose of personal development and development of a critical care mindset* Foster effective communication with both internal and external clients and referring hospitals.
Schedule: Full-time opportunity, Day / 1st shift. We utilize a 4x 10 hour or 3 x 12 hour schedule. Not looking for full-time? No problem!
Compensation:
Starting range is determined by skill set and years of experience in the field. Financial growth opportunities available.
