POSITION SUMMARY:
The Department of Internal Medicine Division of Rheumatology at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine is seeking a compassionate Advanced Practice Provider (APP) skilled in Rheumatology to work alongside a team of Physicians to diagnose and treat rheumatic conditions. Essential duties include providing patient care, protocol development,and continuing patient health maintenance . The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent diagnostic skills and exemplary knowledge of general medical practices, and ultimately, be a good leader and work well within a multidisciplinary team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* CLINICAL: Attends outpatient clinic to provide medical care to complex Rheumatology patients. Performs follow up patient visits for General Rheumatology patients. Coordinates with physicians and nursing staff of related disciplines to ensure integrated patient care. Attends clinic meetings when possible. Communicates with referring physicians and their offices regarding patient problems/progress. Responds to telephone inquiries of patients and provides counseling and instruction regarding patient problems; sees the patients in the office the day of the call, if the issue cannot be resolved over the phone. Orders medications as specified by the NP license and as directed by the supervising physician. Provides follow up health maintenance care including the appropriate adjustment of patients' medications in accordance with established protocols or in response to specific instructions from the supervising physician. Prepares and dictates summaries of patient's initial evaluations and follow up care. There will be development and growth opportunities in the specific areas of joint aspiration and ultrasound. May participate in ongoing clinical research projects. Participates in appropriate continuing medical education. Performs other duties as assigned. * ADMINISTRATIVE: Complete clinical obligations such as chart completion, patient follow-up, etc. * Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities. * May represent the university, college/school, or department.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
Master's or Medical degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Instructor.
This position requires graduation from an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse academic degree program and certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 464 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64, or graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant academic degree program and certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 458 and 459 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64.
PREFERRED:
One to two years minimum experience as an Advanced Practice Provider Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant preferred. Experience in an Academic Medical Center preferred. Experience working in an outpatient Rheumatology setting highly preferred. Experience in Clinical Research preferred.
