POSITION SUMMARY:
BUMC is recruiting a Nurse Practitioner for the Interventional Cardiology / Structural Heart Disease Service.
Responsibilities including management and peri-procedural care of outpatient cardiac catheterization patients, as well as primary role as Valve Program Coordinator, which includes coordination of Cardiac Valve Clinic (in concert with CT surgery), navigating patients through valve / structural heart workups, and administrative duties involving structural heart registry, follow-up. Under general supervision of a cardiologist, the nurse practitioner would be responsible for providing relevant medical services which may include obtaining complete medical history and performing physical examination, ordering and interpreting laboratory tests and imaging studies; formulating a diagnosis and treatment plan; prescribing and/or dispensing medication; counseling patients and families, and other patient care duties. Prior experience with cardiology or cardiac surgery preferred.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Qualified Nurse Practitioners must hold at least an MSN from a program accredited by the CCNE or ACEN.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
The NP must be eligible for a Massachusetts NP license. If prescribing medications is included in clinical duties and privileges, Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration and federal DEA Controlled Substance Registration are required.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 2 years of experience as nurse practitioner required, cardiology or cardiac surgery preferred.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
* Successful candidates will be self-directed, demonstrate initiative and professionalism, and exercise expert clinical judgment to function independently in this role. * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English are required in order to communicate complex medical information to collaborators such as patients and their families, physicians, staff, and community health workers, and willingness to address patients with language or social barriers to healthcare. * Applicant will need skills to adapt to changing clinical needs. Individuals with an interest and/or expertise caring for diverse populations of patients with varying levels of health literacy are encouraged to apply for this position.
