Overview Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Supervisor, Clinical Services provides operational and clinical supervision for inpatient and outpatient respiratory care services which includes Pulmonary Sleep Lab and Pulmonary Function Lab. Provides front-line supervision to staff while on the unit/department. Collaborates with the Director/Manager to implement plans addressing performance management, quality improvement, advancement of care delivery, and customer/staff satisfaction. Serves as a work area leader and develops systems to ensure efficient workflow and collaborative relationships with physicians and other members of the interprofessional team. Maintains open communication with director/manager regarding patients, family, personnel and departmental issues. In collaboration with the director/manager and physicians, develops, implements, and evaluates systems to improve patient care efficiency and throughput. Maintains clinical competence and area awareness by directly working in the area as charge or clinician and serves as a resource in patient care. Develops and oversees activities to achieve work area goals and objectives to improve clinical care, customer satisfaction and quality of work life for staff. Develops annual performance objectives with the work area employees. Engages in continuous performance management, writes performance evaluations for staff, and conducts evaluation conferences on a timely basis. Holds employees accountable and implements the disciplinary process when appropriate in collaboration with director/manager. Manages staffing levels with awareness to patient's acuity, staff competencies, skill mix and budgetary limitations. Ensures that staffing and/or assignments and breaks are adjusted and appropriate. Engages in the hiring process and makes recommendations to the director/manager related to hiring of personnel. The ideal candidate needs to be open and flexible to accommodate the department and operational needs. Schedule: This is an exempt position with (5) 8-hr four or (4) 10-hr onsite shifts. Hours will vary but will primarily be: 7:00am-5:30pm or 7:00 am- 3:30pm. One full weekend shift per month and will be talking call. 1 clinical shift per week. Attend mandatory team meetings and participate in department and enterprise project meetings will be on dayshift and flexibility is required. Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: Previous healthcare leadership experience required. 3-5 years of experience in neonatal and pediatric critical respiratory care preferred. Ability to lead others and facilitate and resolve conflict. Good organizational skills and technical skills. Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully, both verbally and in writing. Education/Licensure/Certification: Bachelor's degree and current California Respiratory Care license required. AHA BLS and PALS and Neonatal Pediatric Specialist certification required. Registered Polysomnographic Technologist Certification a plus. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care. Pay Scale Information $130,000.00-$233,875.00 CHLA values the contribution each Team Member brings to our organization. Final determination of a successful candidate's starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
