Job Summary:The Nurse Tech 1, provides direct patient care under the direction of the Assistant Nurse Manager, RN, or LPN and assists the nursing team in providing safe and effective care of patients within the scope of their practice.
Education:Required:Will consider a nursing student (RN or LPN) within one year of graduating from an accredited nursing program.

Department Position Summary:The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in the PICU. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's policies and procedures.
Must be able to communicate effectively and adapt to the constantly changing workload. Assist with various procedures, including but not limited to, activities of daily living, measuring I & O's, cleaning of area and stocking of supplies and equipment, knowledge of sterile procedures. Must be able to work with others as a member of a health team. Must be willing to learn. Must be able to communicate well with patients, families and co-workers. Must have a genuine interest in patients and coworkers as demonstrated by timeliness and working when scheduled, including weekends and holidays.
