POSITION TITLE: Adjunct Faculty: Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Track
DEPARTMENT: Nursing
POSITION STATUS: Adjunct
POSITION REPORTS TO: Graduate Nursing Program Director
JOB SUMMARY: adjunct faculty receive a contract or letter stating adjunct employment with a primary responsibility for development of the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) DNP and Post-Graduate Certificate tracks. Faculty members assess, plan, implement and evaluate instruction for students in clinical and classroom settings or laboratories in coordination with established course and program objectives. Serving University of Saint Francis (USF) students and the USF community is paramount. To provide a consistent quality experience across the university, the USF Way, outlined in the Employee Handbook, is used to describe service expectations for all employees. This is a remote or on-site position.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:
Teaching & Related Activities
The primary responsibility of faculty member is effective teaching. For details on classroom and clinical responsibilities - See USF Faculty Handbook. AGACNP Adunct Faculty are expected to:
* Serve as content experts with certification in AGACNP to work with the Graduate Nursing Program Director and other faculty to develop the core content for the AGACNP track. * Develop AGACNP course objectives, topical outlines, and content for the courses specific to the course descriptions and link these to DNP student learning outcomes and AACN accreditation standards. * Evaluate and make recommendations for specific needs unique to the AGACNP track (ex. additional library resources, simulation needs, textbooks, appropriate clinical settings, faculty needs, preceptor needs, etc.). * Teach courses consistent with the catalog description and content map. * Teach assigned classes at the scheduled time and place and meets required contact hours. * Integrate evidence-based practice in fulfilling all roles of faculty practice. * Collaborate with colleagues for instructional improvement via professional peer review. * Submit reports and requests for information promptly. * Teach students using appropriate methodologies to facilitate student classroom and/or clinical learning experiences. * Create an effective learning environment for students. * Effectively communicate with students. * Facilitate critical reflection and support innovation in students. * Provide timely feedback and fairly evaluate students' progress. * Evaluate student clinical, laboratory and classroom performance and provide individual counsel and guidance as necessary to promote student success. * Propose plans to improve students' performance. * Maintain appropriate records such as clinical evaluations, test scores, anecdotal notes and attendance on an ongoing basis to document evidence of student progress * Duties may be adjusted for assignments at the discretion of the Program Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
* Certified Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP): Graduation from an accredited institution with a degree in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nursing Practice required; dotroal preparation preferred
Licensure/Certification
* Current Indiana RN/APRN license or privilege to practice (or eligibility for license) required * Current Certification or Recertification as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
Experience
* Two year's of clinical experience as a AGACNP is preferred * Experience as faculty or clinical coordinator in a AGACNP program preferred * Formal instruction in curriculum, evaluation, and instruction is preferred
Requirements for all College of Health Sciences faculty engaged in clinical instruction:
* Current TB testing * Current BLS/ACLS/PALS certification * Documentation of Hepatitis B immunization * Other requirements as specified by clinical facilities
Knowledge and Skills
* Expert content knowledge in the field of AGACNP practice * Knowledge of AGACNP practice including theory, practice issues, procedures, and regulations * Competence in educational principles and techniques used in higher education classrooms, laboratory, and clinical settings * Proficiency and promptness in interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written and electronic) necessary to interact effectively with students, faculty, professional staff, administration, clinical affiliates, and the community * Fulfill the Code of Ethics of the university and for the profession * Clinical competence as evidenced by one or more of the following: * Current clinical practice * Research in clinical area * Education in clinical area * Utilization of evidence-based practice in instruction, in consultation with clinical experts as appropriate * Participation in continuous professional development program
