Project Overview:
Thacker Pass is the largest known lithium resource in the United States. Once complete, the mine and processing facilities will produce more lithium carbonate than any other facility in the United States by far - enough to power 1 million electric vehicles per year.
As the EPCM contractor for Lithium Americas, Bechtel is responsible for managing and integrating the efforts of a team contractors engineering and building the facility. We are also managing procurement of about $1 Billion in goods and services.
Earth work began in 2023 and design and procurement of long-lead equipment is underway.
The project is located in the high desert and wide-open spaces of north-central Nevada about 25 miles from the Oregon border, 1 hour northwest of Winnemucca, Nevada and 3 hours northeast of Reno.
Planned with sustainability and the environment in mind, the facility will use its excess process heat to generate electricity and will recycle process water up to seven times. Once the second phase of the project is complete, Thacker Pass will produce more than 16 times the current U.S. output of lithium.

Job Summary:
In this role, you will participate in the planning, staffing, and budgeting of project expediting operations. You will distribute workload, monitor assignments, evaluate production schedules and progress, and develop procedures. You will contact suppliers, initiate follow-up, monitor quality, and prepare supplier evaluations. Your planning and problem solving will ensure expediting operations meet project needs.#LI-NP1
Major Responsibilities:
Participates in the planning, staffing, and budgeting of project and area expediting operations for small sized projectsDistributes workload to assigned project expeditors according to the experience and ability of the expeditor, the degree of complexity of the work and the urgency of the need for actionContacts suppliers to obtain timely submission of engineering data, and to follow-up on material acquisition, production progress and shipmentEvaluates production schedules and progress reports from suppliers to determine if suppliers' programs and work progress meet jobsite requirementsCoordinates with planning and scheduling, field material coordinators or jobsite project expeditors and construction to establish priorities, sequences, and required delivery dates and instructs suppliers accordinglyExpedites Bechtel engineering for the timely review, approval, and return of engineering data submitted by suppliersParticipates in pre- and post-award meetings to review and discuss schedules and potential problem areas that may impact required shipment datesCoordinates shipping arrangements or tracking requests with the project Logistics representative
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Significant familiarity and knowledge of Bechtel Expediting System Tools including DSC.Advanced knowledge of Excel and Microsoft toolSignificant experience with large equipment suppliers in a capital project environmentExperience communicating with senior management and customer organizations
