NASAs Digital Information Platform (DIP) sub-project, under the Air Traffic Management - eXploration (ATM-X) project, is working to develop a digital data and service ecosystem to enable improved ATM decision making. The overall goal of the DIP sub-project is to accelerate transformation of the National Airspace System (NAS) and airspace operations through the development of a platform for advanced data-driven digital services for both conventional and emergent operations to promote efficient aviation operations. The primary focus of DIP is to establish an easily accessible cloud-based Digital Information Platform utilized by a cohort of operators, data integrators, and service providers to gather and access real-time and historical data upon which data-driven services for NAS users are developed and operated. The DIP platform will look to facilitate a one-to-many shared services model, rather than the traditional one-to-one services model, to create an ecosystem of highly reusable services. Part of the DIP objectives are to demonstrate sustainable aviation benefits by offering services that would reduce fuel and emissions in aircraft operations. The Sustainable Flight National Partnership Operational Demonstration 2 (SFNP Ops-2) will develop and demonstrate a connected aircraft service for efficient trajectories and reducing climate impact. Advanced data products, potentially including machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies, made available through the DIP Platform service, will be included in the demonstration. The flight demonstration is scheduled in FY27 over the Pacific Ocean. In addition, there will be another flight in FY26 to gather preliminary data to reduce risks of the FY27 flight. Job Responsibilities: As the Oceanic air traffic control (ATC) subject matter expert (SME), the Contractor will assist the DIP subproject team in formulation and maturation of the SFNP Ops-2 demonstration concepts and plans. The Contractor shall draw upon extensive knowledge of the NAS, flight deck avionics, oceanic ground automation (ATOP) and other relevant concepts and technologies to identify ways in which the Ops-2 concept, including the demo flight, can be operationally relevant and beneficial to oceanic operations. The Contractor may be asked to advise the research and technology development planning necessary to prepare for the Ops-2 flight demonstration. In addition the Contractor is expected to: Attend and engage in DIP planning meetings Provide subject matter expert advice regarding oceanic air traffic management operations, processes, limitations, and gaps Provide information (e.g., presentation, briefing) as requested by DIP leadership and agreed upon by the SME Contractor Review technical planning documentation created by the DIP team from an Oceanic ATC SME perspective and provide written comments where appropriate Inform and educate the DIP team on Oceanic operations where relevant Provide monthly task status reports, including time period report covers, tasks performed, tasks expected in the next period, expenses, forecasted expenses, and issues Required Education/Skills: Recent experience in Pacific Oceanic ATC operations. Experience or knowledge in other Oceanic regions is a plus but not required. Ideally the Pacific Oceanic experience would be recent (last several years) and significant (greater than 8 years) Availability to attend remotely hosted meetings during business hours in Pacific Time Be able to use Microsoft Teams to attend virtual meeting and the other Microsoft Office products, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel No Visa Sponsorship available for this position EEOE Including Vets and Disability
